Monopoly City Street

Monopoly City Street is an online game that features the world that we are living in. When it was first released on 09/09/2009, the server was packed with people coming from different countries, trying to get their hand on the unoccupied land. Some of the Aussie people experienced a technical hiccup and most of us didn't start the game until 10/09/2009. In just a few hours after initial release, most of the major streets have already been purchased. Bondi beach, Melbourne city, Hong Kong City, New York City were all gone and properties were built everywhere. Using the Google Map for monopoly is certainly an innovative idea and more importantly, it fullfil many people's dream - To own the whole street like Hollywood Boulevard or Beverly Hill! Don't sit to wait for things to happen! Own your dream street and charge rent now! http://www.monopolycitystreets.com/

Yaki-Niku in Melbourne

I went to Takumi recently, a fairly new Japanese BBQ restaurant in Melbourne. Takumi is a very nice restaurant indeed. It has nice ambience and great environment. It is also being kept very clean and free of smoke, given it's a place solely for BBQ. The food was great. Had awabi (Abalone), wagyu etc. One thing to mention: The entrees were surprisingly tasty and well made. The wagyu also has a pretty high marble grade... at least 7 i would say. Service was nice but not attentive. It is possibly due to not enough waiting staff. The dipping sources is not so authentic either, it isnt that bad either but surely I would prefer the use of Japanese shoyu. All in all, 7.5/10. If you like yaki niku, its definitely worth to try it. Tips: Please book the table before you go as it gets full quite easily.

Learnt a new song today

One little two little three little indians Four little five little six little indians Seven little eight little nine little indians Ten little indian boys....... Don't say I'm racist, this song is all about the numbers and how to count...Putting Indian in there is just because it rhymes with the song :)

Family

Family is something intangible and yet so powerful. Sometimes, the bond can be so strong and unite the whole group. Not only do they help to achieve common goals but also support each individual's personal goals. My recent experiences have shown me how family can turn into a disaster if a member acts outside the common interests. Perhaps some family's foundation is purely based on each individual's best interest, anything which goes against it, the bond collapses. Whether the bond can be rebuilt is irrelevant in this case as it's much easy to further damage the damaged relationship than fixing it. In my case, the relationship is so torn down which leads me wonder is it worth to fix it?!

Am I ready for the next level?

After test drove the new car the other day, I must admit that I like it very much. Although it may not be as sporty as mine, it is somewhat more luxury in many ways. -Upgraded sat nav with a exceptionally wide screen. -60G harddisk with 8G to store my favorite songs. -14 speakers with 650watt logic7...Better than my 10 speakers Carver?! -Heated steering wheel. -Adaptive suspension. -Launch Control - Wheel spin + 0-100km in 5sec I wouldn't list them all as you probably got the idea... I probably won't buy it for now as I want to know for sure that the 140k will be well spent and truly worth for my pennies. In the meantime, I also have a few things to sort out before acting irrationally. There is nothing wrong with the current one, just... the next level is always better :-)

Knowing is an irony

Image
Knowledge is a double edge sword. While possession of knowledge is sometimes helpful and often admirable, it can also lead to all sorts of problems under different scenarios. Case 1: Boyfriend cheated, would you prefer to know the cold heart truth or not know at all and continue with your day to day life?! I wonder if the partner will lead a happier life as he lives his remaining life not knowing what had happened?? Case 2: Taste of fortune. A person who was born poor and remains poor for his entire life, would he/she be more optimistic when experiencing a financial downfall and thus be happier compared to a wealthy one? Case 3: A dying patient and there is only a day remaining of her life. Would she die peacefully without knowing death is on to her in 24 hours or otherwise rushing to do her unfinished business knowing that she will never be able to complete them all?? We ought to look for knowledge in our lifetime and somehow, someday some of that knowledge will haunt us for our remai...

Positional Goods

Today I've seen an interesting piece of journal. Link provided below. http://business.theage.com.au/business/rich-get-richer-but-are-the-poor-that-poorer-20090508-ay48.html?page=1 Do we need positional goods to lead a good life? While I'm sure there is no clear cut answer for that matter, it is believed that positional goods are a component towards self actualization according to Maslow . I hear the following statement from time to time - Don't marry someone unless he/she owns a house/2 bd apartment, a BMW or higher class of vehicle & has a decent job that provides enough for a household of 8. In the current society, it seems to me that there is no harm to obtain various positional goods. In fact, it appears that positional goods can be a stepping stone for achieve different goals, eg . a nicer job, a more stable neighbourhood , better circle of friends and many more status related stuff. While I do not disagree the meaning of positional goods, I believe some people ha...

Facing The Choice

Everyday we face a thousand of questions, and while some of them are important, but frankly most of them aren't. Whether they are important or not, we almost always forget each of those decisions will be contingent on the following questions we face. Like where should we eat today for lunch, then the next question is what to eat in there ...How much should I spend over lunch, should I dine in or takeaway..etc Questions will just pop out one after another and seems never ending... Of course, this example obviously falls into the not so important catagory but it prompts me to think how do we deal with those questions which will affect our life to a great extend? It is only a fact that sometime we do not have sufficient time to thoroughly examine all the posibble outcomes and yet required to make a decision on the spot. Is that true? I once heard the qoute and it goes like this. "If you immediately know candlelight is fire, the meal was cooked long time ago." Perhaps as a h...

Balance

It has been too long since my last update as I've been pretty busy with all other stuff... Today, I finally placed my ass in front of the computer and update my blog. During the process, I couldn't stop asking myself how can we ever find the right balance between work & leisure. In a blink of an eye, my head was filled with all sort of ideas, arguments and sub-questions. At this point of time, I can't seem to find clear answers for those questions and perhaps they will come to me all in good time...

Stimulus Package...are you kidding me?

Image
After several waves of unreasonablely dumb stimulus packages introduced in 2008/2009, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel as Bryan Pape launched a challenge in the Aussie High Court. http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,25209406-5006301,00.html First of all, I have to admit that the stimulus packages are designed to stablise the Australian economy in essence but unfortunately, the way of delivering the packages are fundamentally flawed. For instance, the controversial $900 bonus cash payment to tax payers. Should the High Court rule in favor of the government, there will be millions of dollars given away to those people who will be hardly beneficial to the current economy. I will be the one to witness how the criminals in jail, drug users buying more crystal etc will help the economy to recover. On the other hand, thousands of the people who are in need of money will not get the bonus as they did not pay any tax in the last financial year. But how about those ...

Friends

After a full 2 months of holiday (Or Laziness), I guess it's about time for me to resume my currently idle blog. In my recent trip to Hong Kong, I've realized something important...or perhaps remembering what otherwise is forgotten... that's my friends. For my ever enlarging group of friends, I guess I lost track of my truly best friends along the way. One would think all those previous emotions and memories will be ever longlasting but instead they got burried within as time goes by. However, no matter how deep they got burried, seeing them in Hong Kong surely awoke part of it...if not all... It felt like if I have travelled through time and back to the old times...even without exchange of words, yet remembering every single thing that we have ever done together instantly. That leads me to think for all the things that I've ever done inappropriately or wrongly in the past, and want to let you guys know that I'm sorry sincerely and please forgive me. And for one of ...
